Activated Carbon

By bdjnk

Even though there are many amazing uses for activated carbon (aka active charcoal), what I want to talk about today is diarrhea. Hear me out.

A science lesson

Under a microscope activated carbon looks like a great many thin interlocking slabs of material which creates innumerable nooks and crannies and gives it an immense surface area for its size. Therefore it has the ability to absorb comparatively huge quantities of air or waterborne particles.

Known uses

Since activated carbon is such an easy and efficient way to remove unwanted particles it is used in many household products. For example, most home water purifiers have carbon filters as do many filter masks.

Other uses

Because of its amazing absorbent power activated carbon is used in numerous other capacities as well. Such as sewage treatment, metal extraction, and as a remedy for certain oral poisons.

Diarrhea

The first time I heard of using charcoal as a cure for diarrhea I was skeptical, but a good friend was recommending it. Sure enough it didn’t take long for the activated carbon to absorb the nasty problem causing particles from my intestines.

Now I recommend activated carbon to all my friends.
